EMERGENCY CALL CENTERS DEVELOPMENT
TECHNOLOGICAL AND REGULATORY MONITORING COMITTEEMandate
The committee oversees technological and regulatory matters in Canada and the United States, for public authorities (Québec´s Ministry of Public Security, the CRTC, Industry Canada, FCC, etc.), associations and suppliers, as well as Québec municipalities and their 9-1-1 call centers. Municipal authorities and citizens expect operational excellence, as technology and means of communication evolve, offering new ways to reach 9-1-1 centers and to transmit information.
Members are appointed by the Board of directors, with one member recommended by the Association des centres d’urgence du Québec (ACUQ). The committee makes recommendations, directs studies and may represent the agency in a variety of ways. It may hire experts and professionals, and set up work groups. The president must be a member of the board of directors. The agency’s chief executive officer acts as the committee´s coordinating secretary.
The committee has an action plan that covers the following 9-1-1 emergency center sections: human resources, customers, communication, legal and regulatory framework, certification, new technology, quality assurance, demographics and management.
